Detailing goes far beyond a car wash. A full detail includes exterior hand wash, clay bar decontamination, wax or sealant, wheel and tire care, interior vacuum, shampoo, leather conditioning, glass cleaning, and trim restoration. Our Elite tier adds paint decontamination, steam cleaning, engine bay, and headlight restoration.
Light swirl marks, water spots, and surface scratches are removed during paint correction, a multi-stage machine polishing process. Deeper scratches that have cut through the clear coat can be improved but typically require touch-up paint to fully restore.
Wax sits on top of your paint and lasts 4-8 weeks. Ceramic coating chemically bonds to the clear coat and protects for 2-5+ years, with deeper gloss, far better hydrophobic performance, and real UV and chemical resistance. Ceramic is a long-term investment; wax is short-term shine.
PPF is a self-healing, transparent urethane film applied directly to your paint. It absorbs rock chips, scratches, and road debris that would otherwise damage the clear coat. Partial coverage (hood, fenders, mirrors) protects high-impact zones; full-body coverage protects the entire car.
They solve different problems and many clients get both. PPF physically shields against rock chips and scratches; ceramic coating gives you the gloss, hydrophobic finish, and chemical protection. PPF goes on first, ceramic goes on top.
For daily drivers, a maintenance detail every 2-3 months keeps the car in great shape. Garaged or weekend cars can stretch to twice a year. If you’ve added ceramic coating or PPF, a lighter maintenance wash quarterly is enough.
A car wash cleans the outside of the car, usually in 10 minutes through a machine. A detail is a multi-hour deep clean covering every surface inside and out, with decontamination, polishing, and protection. The result lasts weeks longer and your paint stays healthy.

Whether you’re asking how much does car detailing cost for the first time or comparing the difference between car wash and detailing, the answers come down to one thing: detailing is a craft. Quick washes maintain appearance. Detailing restores it.
Dallas weather is particularly tough on vehicles. UV bakes interiors, hard water leaves spots, and dust accumulates fast. That’s why how often you should detail your car here is slightly more frequent than in milder climates. A consistent maintenance schedule paired with periodic deeper services keeps your paint, leather, and trim looking new for years longer than untreated vehicles.
And yes, in most cases, car detailing does remove scratches. Light surface defects, swirl marks from improper washing, and water etching all respond well to machine polishing. We’re happy to inspect your vehicle and give you an honest assessment before recommending a paint correction package.
As for how long car detailing takes, that depends on the package. Plan on an hour for an express service, half a day for a full detail, and a full day or two for ceramic coating. Either way, our mobile setup means you’re not stuck waiting in a lobby, you can work, run errands, or relax at home while we handle the car.
